Creative Pathways

Trac Cymru works with performing artists to develop our emerging folk scene at a professional level.

We’ll be helping members of Avanc, the Youth Folk Ensemble of Wales, on their journey to become professional musicians, as well as concentrating on the business skills musicians needs at the start of their careers.

Funded by Welsh Government as part of Creative Wales, the Creative Careers Programme Cymru / Rhaglen Gyrfaoedd Creadigol Cymru (CCP Cymru) presents a landmark opportunity to change the creative careers landscape in Wales by working with more young people from diverse backgrounds, and by supporting the creative industries to offer meaningful work related insights.

The programme is led by Creative & Cultural Skills in partnership with Arts Council of Wales, Ffilm Cymru, ScreenSkills and Trac Cymru, with support from Careers Wales and the Creative Industries Federation.

The CCP Cymru has the following key objectives:

  • Reaching young people and new entrants to the sector to inform them of the breadth of careers which exist in the creative and cultural industries
  • Reaching young people from socio-economically deprived areas of Wales
  • Upskilling careers advisers in their knowledge of the opportunities presented by the creative and cultural sector
  • Upskilling employers in their knowledge of how to offer meaningful and varied work opportunities to young people and new entrants to the sector.

As Trac Cymru’s contribution to the pilot phase in Autumn 2020, young musicians from Avanc (the Youth Folk Ensemble of Wales) explored the different roles needed to create a digital release, and film-maker Meinir Siencyn turned their work into the video below.
