Look out for extra folk content on Radio Wales and Radio Cymru soon as our friends at the BBC mark the anniversary of the first Wales Folk Awards, held back on 14 April 2019. Trac Cymru and our colleagues on the organising panel decided to skip the planned biennial awards this year in favour of postponing till 2022. Instead, there’ll be music and interviews from folk artists in Wales in a week of ‘Celebrating Folk’. Frank Hennessy’s Celtic Heartbeat show on BBC Radio Wales, and Radio Cymru’s Lisa Gwilym evening show and Aled Hughes’ daytime show are all taking part, with a studio session and interview from Plu, a Jamie Smith’s Mabon retrospective, interviews with Patrick Rimes, Avanc and Owen Shiers, a live session from Eve Goodman and more.
