Talent Development
This pathway of our work focuses on the needs and wants of emerging artists. Collaborating with industry professionals, we have provided mentoring sessions, training days and workshops that prepare developing artists with valuable knowledge that can help take their musicianship and careers to the next level. Past workshop topics have included UK & International Touring & Gigging, Social Media & Marketing, Royalties & Legalities and Stagecraft & Live Sound. You can find examples of our talent development work at the bottom of this page.
We also expand artists’ horizons through our relationships with showcasing events, conferences and festivals; with whom we work to put Welsh artists in the light and on stages across the globe. WOMEX, FOCUS Wales and Folk Alliance International are some of the many names, which can be found in the full list on Our Work page under ‘Who we’ve worked with’.

This branch of our work has included training for tutors too, helping to build career portfolios through ‘Handing It On’ courses and our Community Folk Music Tutor training course, developed in collaboration with Community Music Wales. Musicians involved in these programmes have often proceeded as freelance facilitators for Trac Cymru.
Our latest talent development work was the National Youth Folk Ensemble of Wales, a collective of some of Wales’ most promising young musicians aged 18-25. The first rendition of our ‘NYFEW’ established itself into an 11-piece band called AVANC, who took part in developing professional training with us on behalf of Creative & Cultural Skills.
